The Wheel

This is a cozy neighborhood carryout located in picturesque Oakley, which among other things specializes in fresh baked bread. Last weekend, I carried out a focaccia slice and a piece of pepperoni bread. The ‘pepperoni bread’ has no sauce, but with leavened bread, cheese, and toppings, perhaps it’s not quite pizza but rather 75% pizza. I usually say crust is key as pizza is 75% bread… although in this case it’s 90% bread. Numbers aside, the pepperoni bread was soft, flavorful, and well complemented by the spiciness of the pepperoni. Conversely, the focaccia, with a light, airy texture and golden crust, demonstrated a nice balance between chewiness and crispness. Both were hits for me - kudos to @thewheeloakley. Fortuitously, I know the Wheel also does full pizzas on occasions and I hope to return to try that in the near future.
