Queen City Pizza
Cincinnati · New York · Nov 2024

Located on Queen City Avenue in the northern outskirts of South Fairmont (Cincinnati’s ‘Little Italy’), Queen City Pizza feels like an old school throwback. Before all the glitzy pizza trends of recent decades, Cincinnati had its doughy Midwestern style pizza. Pictured here is a large triple pepperoni (for $15.99).
Queen City Pizza’s triple pepperoni is topped with layers of pepperoni over and under the cheese. That cheese is particularly abundant; the thickness of the cheese layer gives it a light color. The crust is medium-thick, with a firm base that holds the toppings well. It has a slight crispness around the edges, with a softer, chewy interior. There’s a layer of sauce that is mildly sweet and tangy, adding balance to the toppings without overpowering them. The bottom of the light colored crust shows small docking holes (to prevent puffing), keeping the pie structurally solid - a slice will stick straight out when held, despite the quantity of toppings.
Overall, Queen City Pizza definitely hit the spot.
